Goldwell has announced its Color of the Year 2021 is Lilac Aura. A move away from bold brights, the fashion look to emulate is an electric pastel. Lush! John Moroney is global creative director at Goldwell, and tells us all about Lilac Aura here:
Color of the Year 2021
As we move away from bold, pop colours Goldwell goes on to anticipate consumers will prefer Nostalgic Brights. These are a nod to the retro tones of the 70s with orange, green and lilac becoming the favourites. We’re loving how the use of Elumen colour has inspired the Goldwell creatives to bring Lilac Aura to the model above. Kind of strong yet like a pastel. Very interesting.

Jane Boddy is a colour and trend forecaster who worked with the brand. She explains: “Lilac Aura defines 2021 as an electric pastel tone with two distinct characteristics. It provides comfort as it hints at mid-century nostalgia while simultaneously embodying the digital revolution. Lilac Aura is plucked from the digital world, reflecting the latest developments in VR and gaming but retains a familiar quality. This is a pastel that echoes the past but proclaims the future.”
