Low-maintenance, lived-in blondes are here to stay, however a summer glow up is what they’ll be needing.
According to Matrix Artist Ambassador Niall McNulty, summer blondes are brighter and bolder. “Make that face frame pop! Use a toner one shade lighter to make your money piece pop. Summertime and early autumn are THE months for blondes and keeping them looking fresh and modern is key.”
Niall’s top tips for summer blondes
- Balayage and baby lights are here to stay so use one level darker than your global toner to shadow the roots to give a subtle, soft grown out without going too dark.
- This year’s Pantone Colour of the Year Very Peri is the perfect go-to shade for ‘pastelising’ and adding into blonde toners, along with pretty candy floss pink and mink tones. Pastel are still popular with clients so mix them up and have a play.
- Stay away from deep root shadowing and stretching, but keep this in store for the autumn, when they will see a resurgence.
- Keep blondes hydrated in the hot weather to ensure they look good into the autumn – ensure clients are using a heat protector such as Matrix Total Results Miracle Creator and a weekly mask to replenish moisture.
