If there was ever a time to encourage your clients to play with their hair colour, it’s now. After all the time we’ve spent away from socialising, dressing up and having actual fun, we definitely deserve it.
So, speaking of fun…. allow us to introduce Holographic Hair, a colouring technique created by colourist Safy Burton that can be emulated in your own salon (and on yourself!) Think high gloss and multi-dimensional highlights, strategically placed to create a 3D, holographic illusion.
So how does it work? According to Safy, you over direct the sections to the front of the
hair, taking the entire top section to the front so that when the hair falls back into its natural pattern, the colours are in slightly different sections leaving a holographic effect. The overall look depends on the colour placement – if you’re opting for a diagonal silhouette you would place the colour in this pattern as you work through the sections and you may need to pre-lighten the hair first to get a firm base colour.
The usual tips for in-between salon visits apply with this trend; Colour protecting shampoos, conditioners and a weekly mask – you know the drill. Plus, Safy recommends the clients come back after 6-7 weeks for a top up.
So if you feel like recommending something a little bit different, this is the new must-try trend for clients who – literally – feel like letting their holographic hair down.
