The evenings are getting darker, the trees are changing colour and there’s a hint of Christmas spirit on the horizon. That’s it, we can officially say it’s autumn, and we’re here for it. After a not-so sunny summer, we are ready to embrace the autumn season and enjoy cosy evenings by the fire. And all whilst rocking some amazing new hair thanks to the top three trends, as chosen by Sam Ashcroft from Brooks & Brooks.
“Generally, the hair looks we’ve seen for this coming season have been serene, loose and relaxed, which means we can make an interpretation of them straight into our beauty schedules,” he explains. This is something Victoria Beckham expressed at her show and has a ‘worn but still done’ vibe. “Hair was inspired by the early 90s; heavy natural and with a bit of a bend in it.” Here is Sam’s autumn-season hair rundown.
- Mullet and shag-like haircuts: Eighties, but make it 2021. Who would have thought this twist on the mullet would make such a splash 30 years on? “Ella Emhoff’s haircut is undoubtedly one of the haircuts of the moment,” says Sam.
- Copper waves: Anyone for Bridgerton chic? Or Queen’s Gambit cool? Whatever the inspiration, red is having a moment. “This timeless autumnal trend is powering through with soft blush peaches, to fiery reds. We are especially loving Gigi and Florence Welsh.”
- Chic way to do grey: We do love a revival, especially of the Sex and the City variety. Add to that embracing your natural grey hair like SJP and Cynthia Nixon and we’re sold. Sam agrees; “Note Sarah Jessica Parker’s pearly grey roots and Cynthia’s all-over grey – both women look sensational and they are using the grey as a feature not as a cover up.”
So, which one will you style first?
