Colour World can make things happen for you… just ask Dean Lawton-Taylor, colourist and hairdresser at Clipso salons in Hertfordshire, Dean made his presenting debut last May, after which he told us: “My first demo wasn’t as scary as I thought, I loved it!” And voila we invited him back for 2023. On top of this, Dean was announced as a finalist in the Colour World Genius Awards – Creative Colour Genius award. Dean joined us in Hoxton to celebrate the CWGA with our sponsors: Great Lengths, L’Oreal, K18, Blonde Solutions and Joico. While he narrowly missed picking up a trophy, Dean did still scoop a fabulous prize in the ‘Sponsors gift raffle’!
You should have seen his smile when Dean’s ticket was picked out to collect an awesome prize donated by Great Lengths: A place on the next Great Lengths one-day hair extensions course. It was to be his first time working with hair extensions, all without costing a penny.
What happened on the day?
It was a day dedicated to all things hair extensions, a fast-track education in working and building a clientele. Great Lengths uses only human hair, sourced ethically, and offers bonds and tape systems, with a fabulous portfolio of colour choices, from natural to fashion shades. Dean tells us he’s never learned how to apply extensions before, and can’t wait to share his new knowhow with the salon team at Clipso St Albans.
So let’s hear from Dean on how the day went…
“I’ve always been very interested in hair extensions but never had the opportunity to go on a course. I found the course really useful because they went through every little detail, every different way of applying them, different techniques and as a result I learnt so many skills! I’m now feeling very confident to get started with clients.”
Great Lengths has a huge focus on sustainability which they shared with Dean: “When we arrived, Great Lengths gave me a better understanding of what they stand for, what their ethos is, their sustainability missions and most importantly how the hair is sustainably sourced.”
It’s really exciting to hear that Dean now feels super confident with hair extensions – bonded or tapes. “I have two girls lined up to have them done when I get back into the salon.” And we can’t wait to see the results on social media!
