Each summer, the Freelance Hairdressers’ Association hosts Inspire!; an exclusive event for its members to get together, learn, be inspired and stay educated about all aspects of the hairdressing industry. Guess what? It’s that time of the year again! Due to this year’s lockdown limitations, Inspire! will be not going ahead in person as planned – but will be taking place online. And this time, it’s open to everyone. Yay!
The event will take place on Zoom, which has been a lifeline for FHA members in lockdown and has hosted all their weekly meetings and education sessions.
“Zoom has been huge for us during lockdown,” says FHA founder Sheila Abrahams. “We host Zoom ‘staff room’ meetings several times a week, every week, to provide our members with education, updates on legislation and Q&A sessions with special guests – as well as the chance to catch up and chat with like-minded professionals. It’s been such a success that it was a natural decision to move Inspire! online, and host it through Zoom.”
On the day
The day will start at 11 am with a presentation from long-hair maestro and FHA honorary member, Patrick Cameron. Next up, Alan Edwards will present colour techniques on behalf of L’Oreal Professionnel, before Claire Johns showcases on-trend cuts for Matrix.
In the afternoon, there will be a presentation from Peter Mellon from Meduda on behalf of Wella, before Indola global ambassadors Paddy McDougall and Andy Smith showcase the latest Indola Streetstyle collection – the first time it will have been presented anywhere. The day will close at 4:30pm.
“Inspire! is just the boost we all need,” says Sheila. “The event is always the highlight of the calendar for our members and by moving it online, and opening it to everyone, we’re hoping to really lift spirits across the hairdressing industry – particularly for those who are freelance. With our inspiring schedule of content from our amazing sponsors, we’re hoping to help our members get ahead of the game and ready for reopening and remind everyone that working alone doesn’t mean being alone.
