We’re loving these pics from Anna Sui’s New York Fashion Week AW19 show that landed in our inbox earlier this morning… Fab to see the hair making a real statement at the show. Checking the credits, it’s no surprise to learn that session-styling royalty and co-founder of R+Co, Garren is behind this super-cool look. We heart this guy – accomplished and smart.
POPTISM
is the name of Anna Sui’s 2019 collection… and yikes! What a statement. Poptism features garments embracing a plethora of colourful early ’60s-inspired patterns made in a multitude of textures. Complementing the clothes, Garren’s hair was loud and proud – featuring plenty of backcombed volume and eye-covering fringes, but with the subtle femininity of cute bow slides.
Session stylist (and R+Co co-founder) Garren explains the inspiration behind the look: “It’s called lady-goes-punk. The clothing was very lady-like, while we made the hair have this contradictory ‘Motown’ feeling. We took the hair in the completely opposite direction of the clothes by going punk and incorporating multiple coloured wigs in pink, lavender, blue, turquoise, green and purple.” We love it. Mad, vibrant. Brilliant.
