“It is 10 years since we began … that makes the hairs on my arms stand up. To think, 10 years ago I was on my own, cutting hair in the Salvation Army in Romford, never dreaming it would turn into something like this.
“I want to ensure the legacy of Haircuts4Homeless lasts. We’ve done well so far, and opened up more than 90 projects, recruited 600 volunteer hairdressers and delivered more than 60,000 haircuts. But we need to keep going. Yes, 10 years on, but we’re 10 times more needed.
“Haircuts4Homeless would never have got here without sponsors who have been really supportive over the years. We need the help of the industry, too. Thanks to salons who raise money. If every salon helped raise £500 we’d be set for the next 150 years! Hairdressers who are the team leaders and who organise our regional projects, are priceless. And thanks also to our trustees who guide us.
“Thanks to my sister, Belinda who works alongside me. Haircuts4Homeless fills both of us with gratitude. Spending a two hour session with amazing people gives us the motivation to keep going, makes us feel lucky. Here’s to the next 10 years, raise a glass and help us to keep going.”
