So what will be the hottest new shades for Spring? As the growing fascination for toning continues, a parred back palette of muted metallics is going to be a hit with clients says Wella Professionals UK trend expert, Zoe Irwin. She’s coined this trend…
“The interesting thing with Futuristic Tones is the journey of how we got here. Throughout the last 10 years we have gone on a journey of paler colour and because of the incredible technology we are able to lift hair cleaner and a lot of trends have followed that,” says Zoe.
“We have started to work far more on what is commonly known as toning hair. We then went to a place where we went through the grey and pink pallet. So much so that today it’s as common as a set of highlights.” She adds: “We’ve come to almost wanting everything in one place – cool tones and warm tones together.”
Futuristic tones are now being seen in high-end editorials, and consumers are wanting to recreate the metallic trends seems in make-up and clothing within their hair. So this Spring, don’t be surprised if you find yourself using two or even three toners together to achieve the desired shade…. And the product to help you do it?
Always moving with the times, Wella Professionals’ Opal-Essence by Illumina Color has been launched this month and these new shades will be the perfect choice for recreating futuristic trends.
The innovative Opal-Essence range creates a premium metallic milky sheen on hair – one colour result with warm and cool light reflections. This extraordinary combination of different impressions is due to the innovative dye composition of the no-depth shades. Used alone or mixed with Illumina Color base, Opal-Essence opens up to new colour territories with five opalescent shades: Platinum Lily, Titanium Rose, Silver Mauve, Copper Peach and Chrome Olive.
