An evolution of the Organic Colour Systems range continues with the reveal of its care range.
A self-described boutique, home-grown brand and pioneer of ethical and sustainable hairdressing, Organic Colour Systems is redefining luxury haircare with the unveiling of a new hair care range.
What’s the story?
This month Organic Colour Systems launched its ‘small but perfectly formed’ line of 15 Vegan Society accredited shampoos, conditioners, treatments and masks. The range is packed with high-quality, targeted ingredients such as pea protein peptides, upcycled baobab seed extract, quinoa, rosemary and nettle to name a few. Each is united in prioritising hair, scalp and planet health.
“The quality and efficacy of what’s inside the bottle has always been a priority for OCS,” says co-managing director Vicki Borley. “It’s where we focus our investment, and we’ve found some pretty special ingredients for this evolution of care.”
One of the ingredients is Kerasylium – the result of upcycling milk thistle seed-cakes, and a by-product of milk thistle oil production. It’s a keratin-like peptide complex that repairs hair by restoring molecular interactions and stabilising damaged disulfide bonds. It also protects the structural integrity of hair from daily aggressions like solar radiation, pollution and chemical processes.
‘Upcycled’ ingredients, which feature throughout this new range, are a relatively new hair care offering. They embrace the concept of taking waste and by-products from processing and manufacturing, which were previously either thrown away or used as low-value materials, and transforming them into new, more valuable products.
But the concept of utilising waste materials isn’t constrained to inside the bottles. The new packaging, with design inspired by the British coast line’s iconic beach huts, is made from 100% waste plastic that’s been collected from in and around the ocean or through kerbside recycling programmes.
The labels also contain waste content and feature a special adhesive which means they can be recycled without having to first be removed from the bottle.
So much to take on board but all super interesting. Final fact to share, the new OCS care range is formulated without silicones, PEGs, salt or wheat.
“We’ve gone all in with this range,” says Vicki. “We hope you and your clients love it as much as we do.”
