Founded by French biochemist Rémi Guyomarch, Terre de Couleur is seen as a new way of colouring that protects the health of your clients, their hair, the planet, and yourself. The mission was to work with natural products, and eliminate the toxins which can be responsible for hair loss, inflammation, irritation, dehydration of the scalp and disruption of the sebaceous glands. The intention to protect our health and safety and look after the environment.

Plant colour works slightly differently to the chemical colouring process. Instead of forcing open the hair cuticle (like ammonia or MEA does), plant colour coats the cuticle and forms a protective shield.

This is how the brand puts it:
Coating the Hair means natural pigments adhere to the surface of the hair without opening and penetrating the cuticle, forming a protective sheath. This method, says Terre de Couleur, respects the hair’s structure while giving it shine, brilliance, and natural highlights.
Mixing with Water: The plant colour activates with warm or hot water, rather than adding any extra chemicals in activator. This is more cost effective for you, and is part of the natural and healthy ethos of Terre de Couleur.
Suitable for All: The brand claims that plant hair colours can be used on clients undergoing treatment such as chemotherapy, or those experiencing pregnancy or breastfeeding without fear of harmful chemicals.
