Blue Tit in Copenhagen

Starting 2026 in style, Mads Ruus has opened the first international salon in the Blue Tit group. The location is Copenhagen. We know well the 17-salon strong company – with a highly individual take on being a lifestyle salon group, allowing each venue to express a boutique personality of its own. And yet there is a unity – a clear expression of what Blue Tit stands for in ethos (it is newly announced as BCorp) and creativity and sustainability. Across London and its environs, each Blue Tit salon is designed to feel individual, character-led and deeply-rooted in its local area. Blue Tit Copenhagen brings this ethos to Scandinavia for the first time, with Mads own space already a talking point among the discerning people of this great city!

New beginnings

Mads Ruus, salon owner

Mads Ruus is Danish, and spent 12+ years in London building his career as a Blue Tit stylist, educator and creative leader. He rose to being Head of Blue Tit’s Academy and a Global Creative Director at Blue Tit for organic, biodynamic haircare brand Oway. Now returning to Copenhagen, Mads leads Blue Tit’s first international salon, creating a space designed to inspire both clients and the wider hairdressing community.

Salon Design

Blue Tit Copenhagen

Step into the new Blue Tit, and you’ll notice there is no reception desk or waiting area. Instead, you walk right into the heart of the space. The salon retains echoes of the building’s original curved walls (it was formerly a restaurant).

Generous curved shelving and sculptural styling stations are colour-drenched for a bold, cohesive finish. It is Scandinavian hygge meets minimalism, plus a dash of London’s cool vibe and obvs, Blue Tit’s renowned individuality.

In the backwash room, original metal-plated walls are softened with light-blue hues and warm lighting. It conspire to create a calming retreat for clients during treatments. A palette of deep greens, dark terracotta and flashes of red ricochet throughout, resulting in an interior that feels playful, expressive and cosy.

“I’m incredibly excited for this next chapter,” says Mads. “My vision was to bring a slice of what Blue Tit London does best to Copenhagen, creating a space where clients can come in and feel part of a community as much as a destination. A place to unwind, connect with friends and enjoy a pamper.

Everything Blue Tit stands for sits at the heart of the Copenhagen salon’s identity, with a strong focus on being rooted in the local neighbourhood while reaching beyond it. This will be a true melting pot for anyone looking to experience the energy and vibe of Blue Tit London, reimagined in Copenhagen.”

Expansion and Sustainability

Blue Tit Copenhagen

In 2025, the Blue Tit collective launched four new salons across London. Each space remaining individual in character, while balancing spirit and deep connection to its local community. The move into Copenhagen represents the brand’s biggest expansion to date, setting the foundation for an international future.

Blue Tit Founders, Matt Gebbie and Andi Hinteregger tell us: “When we opened our first Blue Tit salon in Dalston in 2011, we always dreamed of expanding internationally, and launching our first overseas salon in Copenhagen feels like a perfect fit. Having Mads, who has been with us for over a decade, lead our first international launch is so special and a dream come true. We’re so excited to welcome clients through the doors.

Sustainability sits at the core of Blue Tit’s identity. As the UK and Europe’s first salon collective to achieve BCorp certification. The brand is committed to leading positive change within the hair and beauty industry.

Bravo to Mads Ruus and his colleagues – we love it!
