Malisa Masci is based in Melbourne, Australia at the Masci Hair & Spa, so has lucked out on two counts: weather and being close to photographer Andrew O’Toole! “Colour, colour, colour. I feel the world needs a lot more colour,” says Malisa.
“Every day after work, I take off my shoes and walk in the grass while looking up at the sky. I love the colours I see in the sky and in the nature around me. I wanted to incorporate those colours into my collection.”

Marisa explains how the shoot occurred: “To achieve the colourful result I wanted to achieve, I knew the right backdrop would be important. I searched for a long time to find the perfect location for my shoot. My vision was very specific and I needed a set design to achieve the right mood. I was able to find a house in the country with rustic doors, walls and with a hint of Hindu colours and inspiration.
“I needed a set designer who could achieve the right mood, along with a stylist who could bring my vision to life. I knew I’d need to dye jackets and to find just the right jewellery.
“I set out to find models who looked strong and androgynous. I needed them to look fierce but also humble. I wanted my collection to be as much about their personalities as it was about the hairstyles. Make-up was important but I didn’t want it to be a distraction.“
