Conclave

We love sharing ideas and Conclave is good one from Brian ‘Leo’ McCallum, the owner and colour director at ROAR Hair & Beauty. For precision, texture and a modern shine, this look is fierce. Brian… take it away!

“For Conclave, I wanted to create a look that feels structured but soft, with a finish that’s clean, reflective and wearable. The inspiration came from a recent trip to Malta. The light there is incredible, and I was drawn to how it interacts with the pale architecture and the warm tones of the surroundings. That contrast between cool stone and soft light became the foundation for this look.

“The haircut itself is built around a classic, structured bob, kept deliberately simple and refined. I used internal layering to add gentle movement and to stop the shape from feeling too rigid. The focus was on clean lines and balance, creating a strong silhouette that still allows flexibility and flow.”

Talking colour

Brian kept the colour controlled, and somewhat minimal so as to complement the shape rather than overpower it. He tells us: “The hair was lifted to a clear, cool platinum to reflect the brightness of Maltese light, then toned to a soft neutral finish. Through the interior, I added subtle panels of rose and carmine to create hidden warmth. They’re not immediately visible but come through when the hair moves, giving the look a bit more dimension and interest.

The finish

Here, condition and shine were key. “To achieve that smooth, polished texture, I used the Kerasilk Styler, which allows for controlled heat styling without compromising the hair’s integrity. The plates are designed to seal in moisture and reduce friction, so you can work with the hair confidently while maintaining a healthy, reflective surface.

“Using the Kerasilk styling tool, I smoothed the shape and then added a few gentle S-waves through the mid-lengths to soften the outline and enhance the play of light through the colour. It’s a simple technique, but it transforms the texture, giving the hair movement while keeping the finish professional and clean.

“The final result feels modern and understated: a polished blonde with internal warmth, balanced by a precise yet wearable cut. It’s a versatile look that reflects the balance between structure and softness, and a reminder that technical detail and subtlety can go hand in hand.”
