A big shout out to anyone wanting to prove their fantastic skills on camera! A new TV series to air on E4 is devoted to hairdressing and could be just the opportunity to boost your visibility, can confidence and have a brilliant time. The Big Blow Out will champion hairdressing with a new talent competition format, and we’re loving the proposal.
A chance to shine
Love Productions is the company behind Great British Bake Off, and plan to do for hairdressing what GBBO has done for cooking. Importantly, the contestants on The Big Blow Out will all be professional hairdressers with minimum NVQ2, a BTEC or equivalent. So we’re wanting you to take the chance to promote hairdressing for the better. This is our time to show how fun and fulfilling hair is.
The show-makers are interesting in a show that fosters ‘contestant comradery’. to sum it up, they intend The Big Blow Out to be a celebration of the hair industry, one that showcases the UK’s talent.
Interested? You should be! Whether you fancy your chances, or know someone who deserves to be seen, we recommend you seize the opportunity and apply for an audition. The Love Productions team is keen to see hairdressers with any combo of cutting, styling and colouring skills. The challenges on screen will be varied and push you to extend your skills base, but you’re up for that, surely! Each week different tasks will be set and you’ll battle to go forward until we find the ultimate winner.

The search for contestants is on now. You have until 6th February to apply. As you’d expect with a serious TV proposal, you’ll need to put in time on the application and attach a CV (an outline of qualification and experience is what they need) but go for it. This could be your lucky break personally, or the perfect time to promote your salon.
