Keune Haircosmetics hits town

Interesting….  correction, exciting times for UK hairdressing especially in the colour market as the family owned Dutch brand Keune Haircosmetics has a smart new plan for growth. Built on the premise of remaining utterly, 100% loyal to the hairdressing professional by only supplying colourists/salons, Keune has a fab reputation for products and service.

Keune celebrated 100 years with a massive show this summer

Key to the brand DNA is the commitment to hairdressers and that this is an independent, family owned business started by Jan Keune and still run by his son and grandson, George and Eelco Keune. Products are all made in Holland.

UK moves

Key news to get your head around is that by Autumn this year, we’ll be invited to a new flagship training academy in Central London. The brand new premises in central London (think Holborn/Covent Garden) will be 5,700 square foot and include a salon, too. Yep, Bloom Lifestyle business – a luxury environmental salon group currently in Glasgow and Aberdeen – will be hosting and showing off creative colour/styling and beauty services. Owner of Bloom Lifestyle is Sheona Forrest.

Now, one familiar face heading up the launch of the Keune Haircosmetics London home is Darren Potter, general manager and country director for the brand. Darren Potter has more than 28 years of experience, having previously held a variety of leadership roles within the hair industry. In this role, Darren will be responsible for leading and developing the business across the UK, as well as supporting its current salons.

Exciting times

For the past year, Darren has been overseeing the building (literally!) of the London HQ: “I am very excited to see the development of a first for the brand globally, with the House of Keune by Bloom salon and flagship training academy. This is a huge investment for Keune, as we are here to show that we are serious about the UK hairdressing industry and are looking forward to welcoming hairdressers from around the UK to visit our state-of-the-art location.”

Alongside Darren, Bloom Lifestyle owner Sheona can’t wait for the opening!: “I am beyond excited for this next phase of Bloom Lifestyle’s growth; to be opening a salon in Central London with such a vibrant brand, and with some incredible talent that will be announced soon, is huge for us! We already have two strong businesses in Scotland, so I’m really looking forward to bringing the Bloom Lifestyle touch to the House of Keune.”

A secret … no more

Receiving the royal seal of approval at the centenary show

We’ve been aware of the Keune Haircosmetics brand of course, but now with a premises in the UK capital, we’re expecting to find out so much more. And to welcome Keune artists. This is a family owned and run business of 100 years (the centenary celebrations in Holland recently were spectacular) with a royal approval from the Dutch monarchy. New brand ambassador Mark Van Westerop has recently been appointed a global ambassador and we’re expecting news of more big names soon. So keep following!

Meantime Keune Haircosmetics… you’re welcome and we’re looking forward to a catch up  at the grand opening in September.
