Hair & Vision roadshow

Jordanna Cobella models

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing presented its Hair & Vision roadshow format on the good people of Leeds and Cardiff at the same time last night. The double date allowed members to showcase their talent – colour, cut, styling as they pleased and keeping the crowd engaged with insights on trends and sharing their knowhow for techniques used.

Leeds Hair & Vision

Jo Martin (former Chairperson for the Fellowship), and Rick Roberts co-hosted the Leeds event at the Sheaf Street venue.  It was quite a programme including:

Jordanna Cobella presented looks inspired by the eclecticism of current-day Gucci; Rick Roberts showing directional pastel colours and cuts •  Johnny Shanahan from Barber Barber sharing signature cutting and finishing • Russell Eaton shared the secrets of his 50-year-long career and the changes he’s seen – both in the industry and the Fellowship – in that time. He was extra-interesting and held the audience rapt with anecdotes and advice • Sharon Peake from Ethos presented her unique take on colour trends with a root fade and dramatic teal model • Ben Madle from Headhunters presented two directional, trend-led looks with a wet-look wrapped ponytail and textured avant-garde crop • Jade Mollon from Marc Antoni presented two technical cuts, brought to life with intriguing colour placements.

Cardiff Hair & Vision

Host and Fellowship Chancellor Ken Picton took control at the Cornerstone Cardiff venue to welcome another great roster including:

Ian Davies from Ocean with two contrasting looks – one with full curls and the other a striking crop •  Jamie Hill presented two versions of the mohawk – one made from braids and the other formed with cable ties • ISA Training students delivered avant-garde and editorial looks • Casey Coleman focussed on dramatic shapes in pastel pink and dressed-out brunette curls • Special guests Errol Douglas MBE and Craig Chapman had an inspiring conversation on stage, sharing their own stories of Fellowship success and what’s next in their hectic calendars • Anne Veck presented her trademark avant-garde with colourful, braided updos •  Joshua Goldsworthy showcased his editorial skills with two runway-inspired looks • Steven Smart from Smart Est:73 presented two takes on pastel, with a punky pageboy and dressed-out curls.

Two co-ordinating evenings with a superb focus on how cut and colour work together.  This is not always seen on live events where so often styling takes centre-stage and colour seems a poor relation. Verdict: We like it!
