Global Creative Awards 2021 are open for entries

Kao Salon has announced that its Global Creative Awards 2021 are on; meaning that colourists can get new opportunities for global competition and recognition now.

For stylists, the Global Creative Awards are the chance to show their full creativity without any limitations. This year, all Kao Salon Division customers that use Goldwell, KMS and Oribe will be able to participate in the Global Creative Awards. We are pleased to announce that even in uncertain times like this year we will go on with the global creative awards. For 2021 we will open the Editorial Categories for competition which are photo-only competitions. And we will change the New Talent Colorist of the year to be a photo-only competition. Of course, our intention was to find a way to host the live competition as well, but unfortunately with the uncertain situation this was not possible for this year. But we especially believe in these times that it is the time to show the world what true creatives does and that creativity never stops” says John Moroney, Global Creative Director.

The foundation of the Global Creative Awards is that stylists are free to create an entry showing their own unique vision and their full creativity. Stylists can compete in two different ways – the Technical Awards and the Editorial Awards.

Technical Awards

In 2021 ‘Creative Colorist of the Year’ and ‘Haircutter of the Year’ categories will be postponed due to inability to host a live competition. The focus will be on the ‘New Talent Colorist of the Year’, and will be a photo-only competition. This category is designed for stylists with less than five years of experience; created to show the world that age is not a prerequisite for creative excellence and to show their talent and technical ability. The participants of the ‘New Talent Colorist of the Year’ will compete at the national level in their country, before they move on the global, photo-only competition, which is judged online this year.

Editorial Awards

Four exciting new categories of photo-only global competition that celebrate the ultimate in editorial creativity.

  • ‘Men‘s Hairstylist of the Year’: Stylists show their mastery and expertise in men’s styling, barbering, and grooming by creating a collection of cutting-edge men’s looks.
  • ‘Salon Team of the Year’: This category is the perfect opportunity to show the creativity of the entire salon team and to create a collection that represents a shared vision and show the power of the entire team.
  • ‘Avant-garde Stylist of the Year’: To win this award stylists need to push the boundaries of conventional hairstyling and dare to inspire with their collection of visionary work.
  • ‘Editorial colorist of the Year’: In this category stylists have to express their vision in colour and to create an editorial colour collection that showcases colour creativity, precision and vision.

The winners of the Global Creative Awards will be announced at the Kao Salon Global Experience Event which will be held in October 2021. In addition to their trophy, they will receive global editorial coverage from Estetica and a cash prize.

The entry deadline is extended to July 15th, 2021. For more information and all of the requirements, rules and regulations of the Global Creative Awards, click HERE.
