Edward Darley – Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year

As their Hairdresser of the Year 2017, Edward Darley is the first colourist to be named ‘top dog’ in an award gifted by the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, and rightly so. A recent evening hosted by Edward for the Fellowship community drew a packed crowd to watch him showcase his work and share stories, ideas and inspiration. “It was great to have the event purely focussed on colour and to be able to share my passion and inspirations behind my work,” says Edward. “It was also very humbling to have such a great turnout.”
A qualified technician – he joined the Leeds Vidal Sassoon salon in 1992 – Edward has been teaching at the prestigious Sassoon Advanced Academy in London for more than a decade now, travelling extensively and gaining the position of UK Colour Director.

“Within my presentation, I wanted to showcase the different techniques used across all colour pallets. There were two parts to the collection. The white looks represented a more Margiela and Vetements style, whilst the black looks represented the classic YSL and Givenchy designs. It’s been such an honour to be the first colourist to receive the Fellowship’s Hairdresser of the Year accolade, and to be able to take part in such a wonderful event,” concludes Edward.
