Lotus

Lotus is the title of the newest collection by Candice Mckay. Candice won the first ever Schwarzkopf Professional sponsored Salon International South African Hairdresser of the Year title after smashing categories like Afro, Fantasy and Cut & Colour.

The inspiration

Lotus collection perfectly blends avant-garde ideas and ready-to-wear execution.
The inspiration comes from the lotus flower which is a symbol of solace and hope in this time of uncertainty, hardship and loss. The lotus flower has a life cycle unlike any other plant. Throughout the night it is hidden underwater, in complete darkness and when the sun rises, so does the lotus, miraculously re-blooming, sparklingly clean. This process associates the flower with rebirth and spiritual enlightenment. The flower represents our ability to come from a place of suffering into the light.

Candice says ”I want to inspire hairdressers with the Lotus collection, but also to bring it to life, to the streets, to bring changes into the lives of real women.”

The collection

The looks are feminine, delicate, yet strong. Each of them represent the beauty and the power of life. Being simple and elegant, they all are extremely salon friendly and commercial. We love how strong the colours look without screaming ”look at me”. Beautiful work.
