Linton & Mac on 2019 Colour Trends

We caught up with Linton & Mac’s colour expert, Sarah Black, who gave us the low down on colour trends predicted for 2019.

Sea & Believe2019 Colour Trends

Pantone announced Living Coral as the 2019 colour of the year last month. A vibrant, yet
playful colour that Sarah tells us she’s excited to put her own spin on. Sarah said “A gloss in this shade applied to cool, light blonde hair will give a true coral colour to start and will fade to a more muted tone over a few weeks . Hair with warmer undertones will be a slightly more orange shade of coral.”
We reckon this shade is going to be a huge hit in the summer. Especially when festival season kicks in.

Biscuit Blonde2019 Colour Trends

A mix of creamy clean tones and warmer golden hues will be the hot way to wear blonde hair in 2019. Finding the right balance of cool and warm is key to perfecting this trend. The mix of shades makes this colour flattering for both warmer and cooler skin tones. Sarah’s top tips on colour placement for biscuit blonde are “keep the creamy ash shades closer to your face if you have cooler skin, and the reverse if you skin is warmer or ruddier.”

Sherbert Dip Dab2019 Colour Trends

We were tipped off by Marc Jacobs SS19 show where models sported a myriad of multi-coloured hair shades, including the icy blue hue (right). This powdery, yet vibrant colour is now set to be summers hottest colour trend. Although, all we can think about is sherbet sweets when looking at it! Sarah says “Unless hair is very white to begin with, this light hue requires a pre-bleach to take on that pale but punchy finish that sets it apart from its fairytale pastel predecessors.”

2019 Colour TrendsThe New Balayage

More of a technique rather than a colour trend. Linton & Mac are predicting balayage to remain big for the next year, however the purpose and focus will be used differently. Instead of lightening hair, the balayage technique will be used to darken the hair to add depth and movement. Sarah told us “The aim will be to create a balance of tones; just the right amount of light again the perfect shade of darker will give a richer, more polished and multi-dimensional look, compared to what we’ve seen in past seasons.”
