Central St Martins White Show

WOW! A pre-Christmas Central St Martins White Show blew us away! This London School of the Arts has a long relationship with L’Oréal Professionnel, who regularly provide teams teams to work on the student shows. Equally Central St Martins (CSM) and fashion go hand in hand. Perfect then that for the opening show of the 2019 Fashion Awards, both CSM and L’Oréal Professionnel demonstrated their strong and fruitful union! L’Oréal invited Headmasters to provide a team for the hair work. Seeing the diversity, creativity and passion in every single look, showed real hairdressing talent. Headmasters styled a phenomenal 180 models, to open The Fashion Awards – the first time for CSM – on Monday 2nd December at the Royal Albert Hall.

Central St Martins White Show

The opening show featured current hottest topic: sustainability! The intention being to highlight the voices of change, voices of protest and voices of our generation. The directors used the power of the voice, symbolised by the opera where the ability to fill a room with one voice, is a testament to an individual’s strength. Similar to a protest, the White Show featured individuals coming together as a united force with a joint message; championing new design and sustainability through the choice of fabrics.

Hair concept

Nicole Iroh, Headmasters Creative Ambassador and Hair Lead for the show explained. “We were asked to create theatrical and flamboyant looks in keeping with the Operatic theme. But we needed to keep it cool and a little spontaneous. Lots of volume, so backcombing was key. And with a wide range of diverse models it was important to adapt the looks to reflect the model’s hair type and length.”

See our favourite in the gallery below. All looks were dramatic pieces of art.

Sarah Gresty, BA Fashion Course Leader, Central Saint Martins said: “Thank you so much to you and your teams for last night.  Nicole was amazing.  I was listening to her briefing all the stylists. All the different styles were fantastic and thanks to the team it looked incredible.  And the students had such a memorable experience.”
