Award-winning salon owner Lisa Shepherd is as business-minded as she is artistic. The inventor of the Colour Bar concept, and now the Low-Sensory salon experience, we asked Lisa, where do we need to improve our service to colour clients for 2018?
“Colour services (price lists) need to be flexible all the time to suit the ever changing needs/demands of the current day client. Traditional services will always be as robust as they ever have been; highlights and roots, blonde/grey coverage are our bread and butter, and in the main, these services change with product innovation driven by manufacturers. But for my colour instincts, these ‘services’ change more on lifestyle, spend and the ever demanding time constraints which we are all under nowadays. This is why concepts like my color bar was, and still is, such a huge success. Express services are still an absolute must but they must never be detrimental to your core business … after care and colour fixes have never been SO needed, with creative colour still on the rise (pastels/coloured washes etc) clients have to be offered “top up products” to take home – as all of us know only too well any fashion tone will not last and so a spray (like Schwarzkopf’s Blondme Blushes) wash in wash outs etc are more needed now than ever…”
